‘Rick and Morty’ Season Seven Reveals Trailer and New Voice Actors

The wait is over. Adult Swim has revealed the trailer for the seventh season of Rick and Morty, with the protagonists sporting their new voices. There have been plenty of questions surrounding the continuation of the series after co-creator Justin Roiland (Adventure Time, Solar Opposites) was fired for alleged sexual harassment and misconduct, but, as seen in the newest trailer, the show must go on.

The voices of the characters of Rick and Morty were originally both voiced by Roiland. But in the newest season, there are two actors playing the voices themselves. Adult Swim is currently keeping the names of the new voice actors under wraps until the show’s premiere on October 15. An insider from Adult Swim told The Hollywood Reporter, “We want the show to speak for itself, we believe in the strength of the season and our new voices and we want to preserve the viewing experience for fans.”

This recast comes after the firing of Roiland, the original voice of both Rick and Morty and the show’s co-creator. Roiland was fired after felony domestic battery charges, along with allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior with minors. Roiland denies the allegations surrounding sexual harassment and behavior with minors, and along with that, the charges of felony domestic battery have been dismissed.

Adult Swim has been on the hunt for a voice replacement for both Rick and Morty, looking for someone who would sound as close to the original voices as possible. This was due to the creators wanting to make sure that the characters themselves would not change.

The official description of the newest season reads; “Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever! It’s season seven, and the possibilities are endless: what’s up with Jerry? EVIL Summer?! And will they ever go back to the high school?! Maybe not! But let’s find out! There’s probably less piss than last season. Rick and Morty, 100 years! Or at least until season 10!” The description pokes some fun at the new castings, making reference to the slight voice differences.

Rick and Morty season seven premieres on October 15th at 11:00 pm ET on Adult Swim. Watch the new trailer here!
