‘Rick And Morty’ Co-Creator Dan Harmon Has Animated Series Set For Fox

Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon has received series order from Fox for his upcoming animated series, slated to premiere in 2022, according to The Hollywood ReporterThe show takes place in mythical ancient Greece and specifically follows a group of humans, gods, and monsters who “try to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other.”

Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn praised Harmon for his abilities to comment on today’s politics in a witty yet efficient way, “Leave it to Dan Harmon to turn the mythos of early Greek civilization into remarkable sharp commentary on today’s politics, celebrity and pop culture. This project is an incredibly irreverent family comedy as told by one of the town’s most inventive storytellers. We are proud to be partnered with Dan on this series, which strengthens our hold on the animation space and, as we continue to build Fox Entertainment, marks an important first step for us with our first fully owned scripted property,” via The Hollywood ReporterThe untitled show will join a plethora of animated series at Fox, including The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, Duncanville, The Great North, and an animated X-files spinoff which is still in development.

The show hails from a broadcast deal signed by Harmon which included a series commitment for an animated show. Harmon will serve as executive producer.
