Richard Lewis (Anything But Love) will not be appearing in the 11th season of the sitcom starring Larry David (Seinfeld) Curb Your Enthusiasm, according to Variety. David plays himself in the series which follows his life and the unfortunate predicaments he finds himself in.
Following the reveal of his news via Twitter, Lewis told Variety, “For 20 years, I had the greatest comedy gig I could have ever imagined with my oldest and dearest friend LD. Honestly, I’m crushed that I won’t be part of this season. For sure, I will be screaming with all the other ‘Curb’ fans when the new season starts. Hope to be there for Season 12!” The actor claims that he will not be returning for the upcoming season due to the two shoulder surguries he had endured in past months.
What a ride, LD! I love you, buddy.Tragically, these past 18 months I’ve endured a back and two shoulder surgeries and not able to be in #curbyourenthusiasm for season 11. I’ll be watching…@HBO pic.twitter.com/Tii9L8yw8a

Lewis plays opposite David as another version of himself, similar to real life, acting as David’s long time friend. David even donated his kidney to Lewis in the show’s fifth season. Since its premiere in 2000, Lewis has appeared in 39 episodes, where he has been most well known for his endless list of girlfriends, all of whom he claims are “the one.” Lewis also appeared in David’s 1999 mockumentary entitled Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm.
The show was renewed for its 11th season in 2020 and has grown in popularity since its initial debut, being nominated for 47 Emmys and winning two, one for outstanding directing for a comedy series in 2003 and another for outstanding single-camera picture editing for a comedy series in 2012. In addition, Curb Your Enthusiasm also won a Golden Globe Award for best television series in 2002.
The show’s tenth season debuted this month and will continue until the end of March. Although he will not be appearing in the show’s eleventh season, Lewis is hopeful that he will be featured in a 12th season, with a renewal yet to be announced.
