The cast of the Showtime pilot Trending Down continues to grow with the addition of Welsh actor Rhys Ifans.
The comedy series has been described as “a blistering attack on our youth-obsessed culture, and darkly comic examination of what it means to matter. Or matter not.” Ifans will star opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman as Thom and Kathryn Hahn as Lee; according to Deadline, he will be playing Thom’s boss, Jonathan. Both characters work at an advertising agency.
Ifans was recently cast in Elementary as Sherlock Holmes’ brother Mycroft. He will appear in the CBS series’ London-based second season premiere. As previously noted, the actor rarely works in television: Trending Down will mark his first regular role on a TV series.
