Rhys Ifans Joins the Holmes Family on “Elementary”

Elementary will be traveling across the pond in its second season, filming on location in London, and viewers will finally be introduced to another member of Sherlock Holmes’ family.

TVLine reports that Rhys Ifans is set to play Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock’s brother, in the series’ season two premiere. As in many adaptations of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s work, the relationship between the siblings is strained due to a falling-out years earlier. When the two find themselves living under the same roof (at 221-B Baker Street!),  they will be forced to confront one another and deal with the issues between them.

Ifans is best known for his work in films such as “The Amazing Spider-Man”, “Anonymous”, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One” and “Notting Hill.” The CBS show will mark a rare television appearance for the Welsh actor.

Elementary returns Thursday, September 26 at 10 PM.
