Rewriting The Cycle: ‘The Last Of Us’ Kaitlyn Dever Teases Abby’s Ascension As Season Three’s Production Gears Up

A major update has been revealed for the upcoming third season of HBO’s The Last of Us. Reported by Screenrant, the one who was behind the reveal was Kaitlyn Dever (Bookworm, Last Man Standing), who plays Abby, the main antagonist within the second season. On the other hand, there will be a major recasting for Manny, who was played by Danny Ramirez (No Exit, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) due to some scheduling issue.

According to Screenrant, Dever speaks with Deradline on how she is preparing herself for the upcoming story,”I’m getting mentally and physically prepped right now. I go up in a couple days, actually, to start prep over there. I’m so excited to kind of take on a much bigger role in the season.” She further continues her statement,”The fans are really going to like it, I think, the shifting perspective onto Abby, getting some more context onto her storyline and going back in time with this season. So, I’m very excited for the fans to see it.”

Mentioned by Screenrant, the main plot of the third season will be following Abby as she transform from her humble beginning all the way until she gets her revenge and kills Joel, played by Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, The Fantastic Four: First Steps). Furthermore, other events that viewers will surely expect to see is the conflict between Abby and the fireflies with the WLF and Seraphites.

Reported by Screenrant, this change in narrative gives a chance for the audience to see the difficult decisions she had to make. Her fate will be similar of what transpires in the game, a final battle with Ellie, played Belle Ramsey (His Dark Materials, Hilda).

While waiting on further news on the release date of the third season, both the first and second season of The Last of Us are available to stream on HBO Max.
