Reporting From Comic Con: ‘Superman and Lois’: The Final Season Will Explore New Emotional Depths

Superman and Lois is a popular action-drama superhero series that has their fourth and final season set to release on October 17th, 2024. The series follows Clark Kent and Lois Lane as they attempt to balance raising a family, work, and the superhero duties that are expected of Superman. The show reveals all aspects of the Kent family, displaying a wide view of the realities of life in a “super” family.

Both leading actors Tyler Hoechlin (Clark Kent) and Elizabeth “Bitsie” Tulloch (Lois Lane) were able to make it to the Saturday Comic-Con panel. At the event, the actors and showrunners discussed the themes of the show and the upcoming season, and the panel revealed a trailer for season four to the audience.

The trailer viewed in the panel showed the Kent family reeling after the death of Superman, focusing especially on his two sons, Jonathan and Jordan. Jordan attempts to deal with his grief by stepping into his late father’s footsteps and becoming the new face of justice, but when he falls short of Clark Kent, Jordan is told “You are not your father”. The panel spent a large majority of the time discussing the themes of this particular version of the Superman story, along with this season in particular. Todd Helbing (producer) said that they were able to keep the show feeling fresh because “[They] make it about family”. With the fourth season dealing with the grief that comes after Clark Kent’s death, the aftermath of Lois’ cancer, and adapting to life without Superman as a hero and father, it’s clear that the creators of the show stayed true to the theme of family and will continue to provide the emotional depth fans have come to expect in the finale of the show.
