After quite a lengthy hiatus, The Rookie fans received some great news. According to ScreenRant, Season eight of The Rookie is underway. The pilot date is scheduled for Tuesday, January 6th, at 10:00 PM Eastern Time. The season will include a follow-up to the season seven finale, while also showcasing John Nolan, the main character, overseas with his wife, Bailey.

ScreenRant’s Matt Webb Mitovich mentioned that both season eight of The Rookie and season four of Will Trent will premiere virtually without any interruptions between episodes. The schedule will be somewhat similar to season seven.

ScreenRant says the upcoming episodes will pick up where it left off in season seven, with Monica coming back and taunting the team after she had fled the previous scene they were all at. She appears confident, asking Nolan if he missed her.  She is the main antagonist of the season eight pilot episode. Nolan and Bailey seem to arrest Monica in Prague.

The public has also been demanding answers about Tim and Lucy’s relationship, otherwise known as “Chenford”. The creator of the series has confirmed that the couple will end up reuniting. It doesn’t promise a smooth road ahead, though, as they face new challenges together, according to ScreenRant.

The cast is set to return this season, including Nathan Fillion (Castle, Superman), Mekia Cox (Chicago Med, Undercovers), Alyssa Diaz (Lucifer, Ray Donovan), Richard T. Jones (Why Did I Get Married?, The Wood), Melissa O’Neil (Dark Matter, A Simple Favor), Eric Winter ( The Ugly Truth, Sundays at Tiffany’s), Jenna Dewan (Step Up, The Resident), and Shawn Ashmore (It Feeds, Frozen). Lisseth Chavez (Chicago P.D., Legends of Tomorrow) and Deric Augustine, who newly joined the series in season seven, are also set to return.

According to ScreenRant, A spinoff of the series is planned, called The Rookie: North. It is in the works at ABC, but no lead has been chosen yet for the promising chapter. When one is chosen, though, it is set to be announced within the next few months. In the case of The Rookie, though, it is going strong and set to continue with virtually no interruption.
