According to Deadline, CBS has just hired Rebecca Mader (Once Upon A Time, Lost) as a recurring character in the heart-stopping firefighter action drama show, Fire Country. Mader is set to join the series alongside fellow newcomer Kanoa Goo (The Rookie, Dwight in Shining Armor).
For those unaware, Fire Country tells the story of Bode Donovan, played by Max Thieriot (SEAL Team, Bates Motel), a young adult and convict who sets out on the path to redemption and a shortened prison sentence by signing up to join the California Conservation Camp Program, a team of government-employed prisoners stationed in Northern California who fight forest fires across the region. Things are only made more complicated when Bode is sent to work out of his old hometown forcing him to deal with old faces, past grudges, and the weight of a dark secret that he still keeps with him today.
As reported by Deadline, Mader is set to portray Faye, a clever, beautiful aristocrat who is also the head of a private concierge firefighting company. Business quickly turns into pleasure when Faye becomes romantically entangled with Manny, played by Kevin Alejandro (True Blood, Arrow), after meeting him at an AA meeting.
Meanwhile, Kanoa will be playing Kyle, Bode’s new romantic rival for Gabriela, played by Stephanie Arcila (Don’t Breathe 2, The Aliens), as well as a pro swimmer. Though Kyle seems like just an old friend, it’s clear that he’s planning to take their platonic relationship to the next level, something which greatly troubles Bode.
Fire Country is inspired by Thieriot’s real-life experiences growing up in fire country and was born from an original idea that Thieriot worked on with writers Tony Phelan (Grey’s Anatomy, Council of Dads) and Joan Rater (Doubt, A Small Light). The show is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television and CBS Studios.
