Actor and comedian Ray Romano (Ice Age, The King of Queens) will star in a new dark comedy series entitled No Good Deed on Netflix. According to Deadline, the series will have eight episodes to start. The show was created by Liz Feldman (One Big Happy, My First Time Driving), the creator of Netflix’s dramedy series Dead to Me.
According to Deadline, The series will follow three contrasting families fighting to buy the same Spanish-style 1920s villa that they believe will resolve all of the problems in their lives. Yet, as the prospective buyers will come to find, sometimes someone’s dream home could have the potential to turn into their complete nightmare.
Paul Morgan, who Romano will portray, is a distressed and broke contractor who wishes to pay off his debts, retire, and move out of Los Angeles. He believes selling his gorgeous home in Los Feliz will solve his and his wife Lydia’s problems. He then gets a rude awakening when his past mistakes come back from the dead to cause him even more distress.
Deadline reports Feldman will take over as showrunner; Jessica Elbaum (Booksmart, The House) and Will Ferrell (Elf, Step Brothers) will executively produce the series for Gloria Sanchez Productions alongside Christie Smith (The Rehearsal, Kroll Show) with Silver Tree, who will take the director reigns for the pilot as well as additional episodes.
Romano is a three-time Emmy Award winner for his work on CBS’s well-received comedy hit Everybody Loves Raymond, where he obtained one for lead actor and two for comedy series along with the series’s production team.
He also co-wrote, starred in, and directed the movie Somewhere In Queens. He was a recurring character on Peacock’s comedy series Bupkis by Pete Davidson (The King of Staten Islan, Saturday Night Live). Del Shaw Moonves and CAA, or The Conversation Company, represent Romano.
