Ironically, I don’t think anyone saw this coming.
Raven-Symoné has moved from her Disney Channel child star days into her more mature role as a host of The View for quite some time now. But, in a surprising move, Entertainment Weekly reports that the actress recently announced her future departure from the noted women’s talk show to pursue other career opportunities. Namely, a spin-off series from her beloved series That’s So Raven, which aired in the mid 2000s.
That’s So Raven was previously described as a supernatural teen sitcom for the Disney Channel. The series followed Raven as she predicted the future and got herself into hilarious yet occasionally earnest situations. The series enjoyed massive popularity in its time, becoming the first show in Disney Channel history to air one hundred episodes before it’s end in 2007.
Our new Raven-inspired spin-off has not announced its name as of yet, but Raven-Symoné shared the new angle of the series. Raven will now be learning to live her life as a single mother after having recently been divorced, trying to keep up with her two pre-teen children (one of whom inherited both their mother’s psychic ability and her penchant for trouble).
While the past few years have shown us a revolving door of hosts for The View, Raven-Symoné’s goodbye to the show was bittersweet, saying, “I’m excited and sad, but mostly excited. I have an announcement to make. No, I’m not pregnant… We’re doing a That’s So Raven II – with no real title. There’s no title yet. I’m very excited.”
Raven-Symoné will continue with The View until an unspecified time within this year.
