The CBS comedy Ghosts, which was adapted from the British series of the same name in 2021, has seen a rise in viewership after its one-hour holiday-themed episode that aired this past Thursday. According to Deadline, it reached an average of seven million viewers.
This number is the highest rating the show has received, with a gain of approximately seven percent compared to the average amount of views from the second season. The series also broke its season two debut record of social media reactions with over 119 million impressions – a gain of twenty-two percent compared to its weekly social media impressions.
The second season premiered on September 29 and boasted about 6.15 million viewers on the first day, a jump of eleven percent from its season one debut. Ghosts broke another record by becoming the first broadcast comedy show to entertain more than ten million viewers, even after a 35-day delay. As a result, the series has landed the No. 6 spot on a top thirty list of season premieres.
Ghosts stars Rose McIver (The Lovely Bones, iZombie) as Sam and Utkarsh Ambudkar (Brittany Runs a Marathon, Blindspotting) as Jay. Sam and Jay are a couple who “inherit a beautiful country house, only to find it’s both falling apart and inhabited by many of the deceased previous residents,” via Deadline. The show has a talented ensemble including Rebecca Wisocky (Devious Maids, The Mentalist), Román Zaragoza (Stumptown, Austin & Ally), Devan Chandler Long (Ambulance, Doom Patrol), Danielle Pinnock (Young Sheldon, Tell It Like a Woman), Brandon Scott Jones (Isn’t It Romantic, The Good Place), Asher Grodman (Succession, The Train), Sheila Carrasco (#VanLife, I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson), and Richie Moriarty (What We Do in the Shadows, Orange Is The New Black).
Ghosts airs every Thursday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time on CBS and is also available to stream on Paramount+. No news of a season three renewal or cancellation has been announced.
