HBO Max has renewed the freshman comedy series, Rap Sh!t, for a second season, per a press release from HBO. Eight-time Emmy Award nominee Issa Rae (Insecure) created the series, which follows two aspiring rappers as they explore the Miami rap scene and discover more about each other and their identities.
Rae commented on the season two renewal via the press release, sharing, “We’re so happy to play in the world of ‘Rap Sh!t’ for another season with this incredibly talented team.”
Rap Sh!t stars Aida Osman (They Follow) as Shawna and KaMillion (The Quad) as Mia. Additional cast members include Daniel Augustin (How I Met Your Father) as Maurice, Jonica Booth (XXI: O’Day) as Chastity, RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) as Lamont Diggs, Daisy Fernandez (Breakland) as Peaches, Victoria Richards (Hope Lives) as Treasure, Devon Terrell (Barry) as Cliff Lewis, Jaboukie Young-White (Only Murders in the Building) as Francois Bloom, and Amandla Jahava (DMZ) as Jill.
Head of Original Content at HBO Max, Sarah Aubrey (The Leftovers), also spoke on the renewal. She shared, “We are so excited to continue this journey with Shawna and Mia and the incredibly fun world of Rap Sh!t. With the wonderfully comedic and unique perspectives of Aida Osman, KaMillion, Issa Rae, Syreeta Singleton and the team at HOORAE, season two is sure to bring even more seducing and scheming.”
Rap Sh!t’s showrunner and writer Syreeta Singleton expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming season via the press release. She shared, “This show and cast are one of a kind and I’m thrilled to get to do this again with them. We’re going bigger and harder!”
HBO Max has yet to confirm a release date for the second season of Rap Sh!t.
