Rachel Sennott Comedy Series Ordered By HBO

HBO has officially ordered a new comedy series created by and starring Rachel Sennott (Bottoms, Shiva Baby). According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the untitled series will be about a codependent friend group that reunites and navigates how their time apart, ambition and new relationships have changed them.

The pilot was written by Sennott, who also executive produced alongside Emma Barrie (Barry, Lucky Hank), Aida Rodgers (Barry, True Detective) and Lorene Scafaria (Succession, Hustlers), who directed.

“Rachel is as hilarious as she is charming,” said Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President of HBO and Max Comedy Programming, via Warner Bros. Discovery. “With Lorene and Emma, she has captured the comedy and the beauty that happens when friendships collide with our best laid plans. We’re thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with this talented team and this exquisite cast.”

So far, the confirmed cast of Sennott’s new series includes Odessa A’zion (Sitting in Bars with Cake, Grand Army), Jordan Firstman (Rotting in the Sun, Dave), Miles Robbins (Blockers, Old Dads) and True Whitaker (Godfather of Harlem, Berry’s Batteries).

“I’m so grateful to Amy and HBO for the opportunity to make this show and the wonderful team that has been a part of creating it,” said Sennott via Warner Bros. Discovery. “And I’m going to come up with a title soon I promise!”

Sennott is no stranger to HBO, as the network has reportedly been eyeing her since the launch of her career. Following her lead role in 2020’s critically acclaimed movie Shiva Baby, HBO cast her in an episode of their dramedy series High Maintenance and later as a recurring character in The Idol. Her credits also include A24’s Bodies Bodies Bodies, the 2023 summer hit Bottoms, which she starred in, co-wrote and executive produced, and soon Jason Reitman’s (Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Juno) Saturday Night, a film about the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live in 1975.
