Deadline writes that ABC’s hit drama series R.J. Decker, that is inspired by Carl Hiaasen’s Double Whammy, gainning new key recurring roles. David Zayas (Dexter, Dexter: Resurrection) joins as Emi’s father, Victor Ochoa, and Stephen Bishop (Moneyball, Being Mary Jane) portrays Bruce Vinkour.
According to Deadline, the show follows former newspaper photographer R.J. Decker, an ex-con now covering crimes as a private investigator in South Florida, played by Scott Speedman (Animal Kingdom, Felicity). R.J. Decker takes care of cases ranging from the strange to outright out of this world. He is assisted by his ex, who happens to be a journalist, her current detective wife, and is a woman from his past.
Deadline notes that Jaina Lee Ortiz (Rosewood, Station 19) is cast as Emilia “Emi” Ochoa. Bevin Bru (Batwoman, 57 Seconds) plays Detective Melody “Mel” Abreu, Kevin Rankin (Friday Night Lights, Trauma) plays Aloysius “Wish” Aiken and Adelaide Clemens (Love My Way, Parade’s End) plays Catherine Delacroix. Other guest stars previously announced were Dawnn Lewis (A Different World, The Poof Point), Rich Sommer (Mad Men, BlackBerry), Tony Plana (Ugly Betty, One Eight Seven), Tamera Mowry-Housley (Twitches, Roommates), Rizwan Manji (Schitt’s Creek, Magicians), Keith Powell (30 Rock, His Leg), Olga Merediz (In the Heights, Encanto), Johanna Braddy (Hurt, Easy A), Andy Favreau (Running Point, Ambulance), and Joseph Lee Anderson (S.W.A.T. , American Soul).
According to Deadline, R.J. Decker is made by 20th Television. Rob Doherty (Elementary, Star Trek: Voyager) who is a showrunner, writer and a producer. Carl Beverly (Justified, Unbelievable) and Sarah Timberman (Elementary, Justified) are also producers of the show, along with Carl Hiaasen (Skinny Dip, Flush), Jason Tracey (Burn Notice, Elementary) and Paul McGuigan (Sherlock, Scandal) who directs episodes.
