The Quibi reboot of the Comedy Central original comedy series Reno 911! has been renewed for an eighth season on the mobile streaming platform, according to Screen Rant. Created by Thomas Lennon (Night at the Museum, The Odd Couple), Kerri Kenney-Silver (Superstore, The State), and Robert Ben Garant (The State), the mockumentary comedy program announced in 2019 that it would have a seventh season on the newly launched mobile streamer Quibi. The series originally premiered on Comedy Central in 2003 and ran until 2009, amassing 88 episodes over its original six seasons.
Reno 911! Is a mockumentary comedy series that satirizes the police shows such as Cops by portraying the police officers in Reno, Nevada in a comedic manner. The creators Lennon, Garant, and Kennedy-Silver also star in the show as well as Lt. Jim Dangle, Deputy Travis Junior, and Deputy Trudy Wiegel, respectively. Additional cast includes the likes of Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko’s Modern Life) as Deputy Sergeant Garcia, Niecy Nash (Claws) as Deputy Williams, Ian Roberts (Drillbit Taylor) as Sergeant Declan, Cedric Yarbrough (The Boondocks) as Deputy Sergeant Jones and Mary Birdsong as Deputy Kimball set to return. In February of 2020, prior to the revival season’s release on Quibi, it was announced that the full original cast is set to return for the seventh season. Currently, it is unknown if this will be replicated in the newly announced season as well.
The eighth season of Reno 911! was announced via a video announcement on the Quibi Youtube channel which is a new rendition of Lennon’s Lt. Dangle new boots dance. Check out the short video below:
