The upcoming mobile streaming service Quibi has released a short one minute trailer for the revival of Comedy Central’s Reno 911!, according to Deadline. After announcing the revival of the raunchy cop comedy a few weeks ago, Quibi looks to be promoting the revival’s release alongside that of the impending platform’s release on April 6. Despite recent cancellations and suspensions of other television productions and releases due to the coronavirus, it is refreshing to learn of Quibi’s continuation of scheduled releases.
The new Reno 911! trailer shows the returning cast discussing the squirrels that are taking real estate up in the air ducts. This is the first instance of seeing this cop squad together in a room in nearly eleven years since its cancellation at Comedy Central. Thomas Lennon (Odd Couple and 17 Again) as Lieutenant Jim Dangle leads a signature roll call meeting that gives fans of the original series a feeling of nostalgia for things to come. The rebooted series has a cast full of a returning ensemble cast including actors such as Joe Lo Truglio (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs), Niecy Nash (Clean House), Kerri Kenney-Silver (The State), Robert Ben Garant (Balls of Fury), Cedric Yarbrough (Bojack Horseman), Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko’s Modern Life), Ian Roberts (Key & Peele), and Mary Birdsong (The Descendants).
Currently, there is no attached release date for the new season of Reno 911!. However, with the nearing launch date of the mobile streaming service, Quibi suggests that the reboot of the Comedy Central classic will accompany the platform’s launch. Quibi series will be composed of ten-minute episodes released through its mobile app. Interested subscribers can sign up to learn more about the service and receive a free 90 days on Quibi’s website.
