According to Deadline, Daredevil: Born Again shut down filming production for the day due to the Writers Guild of America being on strike. The new Disney+ and Marvel series was originally supposed to shoot at its New York home base of Silvercup East Studios, which has also been one of the main picketing locations for WGA members who are on strike. The revival series production was also shut down by sunrise picketing outside of Silvercup East on May 8th due to Teamster Local 817 and IATSE Locals 829 and 52 refusing to cross the picketing line which suspended production for a week.
According to Deadline, Daredevil: Born Again is in the third month of its eight-month production. The series is scheduled to have an 18-episode season as it continues to film around New York. Written and executive produced by Matt Corman (The Enemy Within) and Chris Ord (Covert Affairs) who are not able to provide any writing services currently during the strike. The new series will be centered around Charlie Cox’s (She-Hulk Attorney at Law) character Daredevil, also known as Matt Murdock.
The Daredevil franchise is based on a Marvel Comics series that debuted back in 1964 and has had many adaptation from a television series to even a film. The series follows Matt Murdock, a blind man who by day, works as a lawyer and by night, fights crime as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen protecting those that can’t protect themselves both by crime and the justice system. The upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again is a revival version of the Netflix adaption. The new series cast includes Vincent D’Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket), Margarita Levieva (The Deuce), Sandrine Holt (Better Call Saul), Michael Gandolfini (The Offer), Nikki M. James (Severance), And many more.
Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in early 2024.
