Ash Ketchum has been an icon in the Pokemon franchise for 25 years, and fans have seen him accomplishing his ultimate goal of becoming Pokemon Master in the finale of Pokemon Journeys :The Series. The Pokemon series was first created back in 1997, and but soon became a global phenomenon beloved by fans worldwide. According to Comicbook, Pokemon producers Taito Okiura (Pokemon Evolutions) and Andy Gose (Detective Pikachu) spoke, via Variety, about the series. When the question of Ash was brought up, they hid the details.
Gose shared his thought,” we’ve said farewell. Ash is still in the world. Anything is possible, I suppose. In the world of Pokemon, there’s so many possibilities.” Okiura shared the same sentiment that the journey of Ash and Pikachu is still happening, but we just can’t see it
Okiura stated,”We hope Ash and Pikachu continue in their journey. Their journey is ongoing somewhere in the Pokemon world. It’s totally up to our fans’ imagination. For the time being, we would love to focus on the new story of the Liko and Roy. Horizons invites a new beginning.”
According to Comicbook, Ash and Pikachu’s journey have taken them across multiple regions and lasted over 1,000 episodes. The current installment of the franchise takes place in the Galar Region with Liko, who is pursued by a group wanting her mysterious pendant, and Roy, who is eager to becoming a Pokemon trainer and carries an ancient pokeball.
