According to ScreenRant, one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s best TV shows, Hawkeye, gets a much-needed update on the status of a potential second season. The series aired on Disney+ during the holiday season in 2021 and is currently holding a 92% Rotten Tomatoes Score.
As per ScreenRant, in new interview with The Direct, the showrunner of Wonder Man, Andrew Guest (Community, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), previously worked as consulting producer on the Hawkeye series and basically confirms that there will most likely not be a second season. The news about the series comes after Jeremy Renner (Mayor of Kingstown, Wake Up Dead Man) turned down what he said was an “insult offer” to reprise his most iconic role. Although in September, he did state that he would be happy to return.
According to ScreenRant, Guest in the interview said, “There was talk at a certain point about… we did explore creatively what season 2 of Hawkeye might be if we were able to do it. Unfortunately, the timing didn’t work out in terms of Marvel and all the various pieces that need to come together, but I loved working on Hawkeye. I think Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld are so terrific together, and I would love to see more of those two.”
As per ScreenRant, Hawkeye follows former Avenger Clint Barton, trying to get home to his family for Christmas in New York City but getting entangled with Kate Bishop, a young, skilled archer and his biggest fan. The cast of the series includes Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Hailee Steinfeld (Sinners, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) as Kate Bishop, Florence Pugh (The Falling, Marvel Zombies) as Yelena, Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, Bates Motel) as Eleanor Bishop, Tony Dalton (The Last of Us, Daredevil: Born Again) as Jack Duquesne, Alaqua Cox (Echo, Flash Before the Bang) as Maya Lopez and many others.
Hawkeye and all Marvel Cinematic Universe films and shows are available to stream on Disney+.
