Prime’s ‘The Boys’ Welcomes ‘Stranger Things’s Mason Dye For Final Season

A new hero is suiting up for the final season of Prime Video’s The BoysAccording to the series’ Instagram account, Mason Dye is set to guest star in the fifth season. View the announcement post below.

There is little news about Dye’s character besides his name, Bombsight, alluding to an explosive power set. Helmed by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, The Boys completed its provocative fourth season earlier this summer with an election-focused narrative mirroring the country’s real-life political stage. The righteous gang formerly led by Karl Urban’s (Almost Human, Marvel’s Thor) Billy Butcher was last seen going their separate ways to evade capture by Antony Starr’s (Banshee, Cobweb) homicidal Homelander. Unfortunately, they weren’t fast enough, setting up a showdown between The Boys and the ever-powerful might of Vought.

Dye is the latest cast addition to the final season. Hamilton and Snowpiercer star Daveed Diggs was announced few weeks ago. And after much fan speculation, Kripke confirmed Walker and Supernatural star Jared Padalecki will reunite with his on-screen brother Jensen Ackles (Tracker, Big Sky). Ackles plays the Captain America rip-off Soldier Boy. A Vought experiment crafted to defeat the Nazis, the bigoted supe kept on ice is also Homelander’s father, making for a complicated family reunion.

While there is no date for the final season, it is expected to come after the second season of spinoff Gen Vwhich was to begin production sometime this year. Season filming was delayed after the unfortunate death of series lead, Chance PerdomoThe Boys universe is also expanding backward with the prequel series, Vought Rising, which will follow the unruly beginnings of the misguided corporation with Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s (You’re the Worst, Fosse/Verdon) Stormfront.

TV viewers will recognize Dye from his role in the fourth season of Netflix’s Stranger Things playing Hawkins High basketball captain, Jason Carver. He also played an abused child in the 2014 TV adaptation of Flowers in the Attic.

The first four seasons of The Boys are available to stream on Prime Video.
