Prime Video’s ‘Good Omens’ Paused Production After Neil Gaiman Sexual Assault Accusations

“According to Deadline, Prime Video’s drama Good Omens has paused production for its third and final season. The series was currently under production in Scotland until the news of series creator Neil Gaiman (The Sandman, Dead Boy Detectives) in series of sexual assault allegations surfaced. Deadline has heard there was discussion on a possible production change, but a series spokesperson has not commented.

As per Deadline, the news of the series pausing production comes less than a week after Disney paused a planned feature adaptation of Gaiman’s 2008 YA title The Graveyard Book. Gaiman has denied the allegations against him and has even said that he is “disturbed” by them.

On July 3, the UK-based Tortoise Media published a four-part podcast series reporting the claims against Gaiman. Gaiman allegedly sexually assaulted two different women;lone claims she was 18 when assaulted by Gaiman in 2003, while the other said she was 25 at the time of her incidents with the author in 2022.

Good Omens is one of the many projects that Gaiman has created; it’s based on a novel by him and Terry Pratchett (The Amazing Maurice, The Abominable Snow Baby) The series centers around an angel and a demon who work together to prevent the apocalypse. They both enjoy and prefer their time on Earth over the work they have to go through in heaven and hell. The series has gone beyond the novel series as Gaiman extended the ideas meant for the novel but never used.

The series cast includes David Tennant (Doctor Who), Michael Sheen (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1), Frances McDormand (Fargo), Sam Taylor Buck (Medici), Daniel Mays (The Bank Job), Sian Brooke (Sherlock), Miranda Richardson (The Crying Game), Adria Arjona (Andor) and many others.

Good Omens is available to stream on Prime Video.
