According to Deadline, Prime Video’s Good Omens will get an interesting send-off for their final season. The fantasy series will end with its third season with only one 90-minute episode. Creator Neil Gaiman (The Sandman) will be stepping down from the series following allegations made against him by several women. Additionally, series stars Michael Sheen (A Very Royal Scandal) and David Tennant (Doctor Who), who play the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley, will return for the one-off television movie, which will begin production in 2025 in Scotland.
Gaiman contributed to the writing of the final season but has not been working with the production company since the allegations. This is after Tortoise Media released a podcast that chronicled accounts of two women with whom he was in consensual relationships, who accused him of sexual assault. Last month, it was reported that Gaiman chose to step down so the series could finish.
As per TVLine, when announcing the end of the series, Prime Video said that the finale “will bring to life a serendipitous conversation from almost 35 years ago, between Neil Gaiman and the late Sir Terry Pratchett, where they mapped out ‘what happens next’ to the wonderful characters in the world of their internationally best-selling novel.”
“I’m so happy finally to be able to finish the story Terry and I plotted in 1989 and in 2006,” Gaiman said in December via TVLine. “Terry was determined that if we made Good Omens for television, we could take the story all the way to the end. Season 1 was all about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies, and the End of the World. Season 2 was sweet and gentle, although it may have ended less joyfully than a certain Angel and Demon might have hoped. Now in Season 3, we will deal once more with the end of the world. The plans for Armageddon are going wrong. Only Crowley and Aziraphale working together can hope to put it right. And they aren’t talking.”
Good Omens is available to stream on Prime Video.
