The hunt for the live action son of Kratos has come to a close. Prime Video has announced that actor Callum Vinson (The Night Agent, Poker Face) has been signed in to play Atreus in the God Of War series.
For those who are unaware, Prime Video has been gathering actors to star in this upcoming project. The series is based on the beloved game series under the same name. The video game tells a story about Kratos, the vengeful God of war, who after killing his wife and daughter was given the task of killing Ares the God of war. After doing so he took his title and over time harbored hatred towards the Greek Gods and went on rampage killing them and destroying the Greek pantheon. Now has found himself in the Norse realm where he has remarried and has a son named Atreus. After the passing of Faye, Kratos’ wife and mother of Atreus, the two set out on a journey to spread her ashes across the highest peak in all the nine realms.
According to Amazon MGM Studios, the character description for Atreus mentions that he is ten years old and grew up in a remote forest cabin. He was isolated and raised by his mother, Faye. He is said to be an accomplished archer and has an affinity for animals and is also curious about what lies beyond his forest home. After the death of her mother, Atreus is left with Kratos, a cold and distant father who he barely knows and his father knows little about him as well. However, this does not stop Atreus from striving to earn his father’s approval and prove that he has the strength to survive a harsh and dangerous world.
The cast so far consists of Ryan Hurst (The Abandons, Desert Road), Teresa Palmer (The Family Next Door, Mix Tape), Mandy Patinkin (The Artist, The American Revolution), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Kiff, Reykjavík Fusion), Max Parker (Boots, Doctor Who), Alastair Duncan (Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Dune: Awakening), Danny Woodburn (The Witcher, Bookie), and Jeff Gulka (Laid, The Irrational). Randy D. Moore (For All Mankind, Outlander) will serve as the showrunner for the series and Cory Barlog (Curtis Takes a Wrong Turn, Niche) will be an executive producer for the series.
