As stated by an Amazon press release, the official trailer of Clean Slate has been released to the public. The television series will be debuting February 6 in over 240 countries exclusively on Prime Video. George Wallace (The Wash, Tall Hopes) and Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Block, Promising Young Woman) are the stars, creators and executive producers of Clean Slate. Watch the trailer below!
The logline of the series via the press release is as follows: “This heartfelt comedy follows Harry (Wallace), an old-school car wash owner in Alabama who has a lot of soul searching to do when the child he once called “son” returns after 17 years as a proud trans woman named Desiree (Cox). Her homecoming brings together a hilarious cast of friends, coworkers, and love interests as Desiree and Harry try to get it right the second time around. The series explores universal themes of unconditional love, all through Norman Lear’s signature boundary-pushing brand of comedy.”
The trailer starts with Harry opening the door, expecting a son when Desiree announces that she is a trans woman. As the trailer progresses, Harry is more inviting to her lifestyle and the love remains because they are each other’s blood. The preview is a good mixture between comedy and heartwarming feelings that will be loved by different demographics.
Along with Cox and Wallace, D.K. Uzoukwu (Fresh Off the Boat, Insecure), Jay Wilkinson (Perfect Stranger, Rabbit Hole), Norah Murphy (Karen, A Friend of the Family) and Thelma Hopkins (Family Matters, Half & Half) are other cast members of the series. Dan Ewen (Playing with Fire, How to Cheat) is also a creator of the series. Brent Miller (Ninjago, Chasing Hope) and Norman Lear (The Princess Bride, All in the Family) are the executive producers of the show and both have won Emmys previously. Executive producer Simran Baidwan (Manifest, The Good Doctor) and Ewen are co-showrunners. The producers of the series are Paul Hilepo (Disclosure), Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures television per the press release. The director of the first episode is Nisha Ganatra (The Cheetah Girls: One World, Will You Merry Me).
