The series stars Michael Iskander as David, the future king of Israel, following an extensive four-month international casting search. Iskander, known for his role in the Tony Award-winning musical Kimberly Akimbo, leads a stellar cast including Ali Suliman (Jack Ryan, Arthur the King) as King Saul, Ayelet Zurer (Angels and Demons, Man of Steel) as Queen Ahinoam, Stephen Lang (Avatar: The Way of Water, Don’t Breathe) as Samuel and Martyn Ford (Mortal Kombat 2, The Sandman) as Goliath.

The series chronicles David’s rise from an overlooked shepherd to Israel’s most celebrated king. It also explores King Saul’s downfall, driven by pride and paranoia. As God directs the prophet Samuel to anoint young David as the new king, the story delves into themes of power, destiny and the complexities of love and loyalty. The narrative unfolds in the turbulent court of King Saul, setting the stage for an epic clash between the two leaders.

The ensemble cast includes Indy Lewis (Industry) and Yali Topol Margalith (Tattooist of Auschwitz) as Saul’s daughters Mychal and Mirab, Ethan Kai (Carnival Row) as Jonathan, Saul’s heir and Sam Otto (Snowpiercer) as Eshbaal, the middle child. Additional cast members include Oded Fehr (Star Trek), Louis Ferreira (Breaking Bad), Davood Ghadami (Eastenders) and Ashraf Barhom (Tyrant).
