Prime Video powers up for its upcoming adult-animated anthology series, Secret Level, an amalgamation of original animated short stories set within different beloved video game worlds. The show-stopping creators of Love, Death + Robots, Blur Studio and Amazon MGM Studios have teamed up to expand the narratives belonging to multiple video game realms in Secret Level’s 15-episode release.
According to the Head of Television at Amazon MGM Studios, Vernon Sanders (The Enemy Within, Harry’s Law), “Secret Level weaves a tapestry of iconic games across multiple mediums, to tell a series of unique and captivating stories. Created and led by Tim Miller, Blur Studio, and Supervising Director Dave Wilson, each episode will take our global Prime Video customers on a brand new journey with breathtaking animation and imaginative storytelling.”
The accumulation of these various video game worlds in a single series is no small feat, as the Secret Level anthology is the first of its kind to bring together game intellectual properties to television in this way, according to the official Prime Video press release. The games that have inspired the 15 episodes of Secret Level include Dungeons & Dragons, Concord, Armored Core, Exodus, Crossfire, Mega Man, Honor of Kings, PAC-MAN, New World: Aeternum, The Outer Worlds, Sifu, Warhammer 40,000, Spelunky, Unreal Tournament and PlayStation (highlights of entities from PlayStation Studios).
The new series is executive produced and created by Tim Miller (Love, Death and Robots, Deadpool) via the official press release. Miller is familiar with adapting video game content for the big screen with films such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Borderlands. Joining as supervising director and executive producer is Dave Wilson (Bloodshot, Avengers: Age of Ultron). Wilson’s experience within the gaming industry is extensive, with credits as cinematic director for Mass Effect 2, The Elder Scroll Online, The Division, Star Wars: The Old Republic and many other popular gaming properties.
Secret Level will premiere on December 10 exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 territories and countries worldwide. The teaser trailer for Secret Level is available to watch below.
