Developed by Nick Santora (Scorpion, Prison Break), Reacher first debuted on Prime Video in February 2022 and was renewed for a season two. According to Variety, a release date has been revealed for the second season. The first three episodes will be released on December 15th, and then episodes will air weekly through January 19th, 2024.
As Variety notes, in anticipation of the second season, a trailer has also been revealed. The trailer for season two of Reacher can be viewed below.
Reacher is based on the Jack Reacher book series by Lee Child (One Shot, Die Trying), and each season is based on a different novel within the series. The first season of Reacher is based on Killing Floor, and the second season is based on Bad Luck and Trouble.
According to the official press release, the synopsis of the second season states, “Reacher Season Two begins when veteran military police investigator Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) receives a coded message that the members of his former U.S. Army unit, the 110th MP Special Investigations, are being mysteriously and brutally murdered one by one.”
Jack Reacher, played by Alan Ritchson (Fast X, Titans), enlists the help of his former teammates Frances Neagley, played by Maria Sten (Channel Zero, Swamp Thing), Karla Dixon, played by Serinda Swan (Ballers, Recoil), and David O’Donnell, played by Shaun Sipos (The Sandman, Rampage).
The synopsis continues: “Together, they begin to connect the dots in a mystery where the stakes get higher at every turn, and that brings about questions of who has betrayed them—and who will die next. Using his inimitable blend of smarts and size, Reacher will stop at nothing to uncover the truth and protect the members of his unit. If there’s one thing Reacher and his team know for certain, it’s that you do not mess with the Special Investigators.”
Executive producers of the series include Santora, Child, Don Granger (Heart of Stone, The Family Plan), Scott Sullivan (Scorpion, FUBAR), Adam Higgs (Scorpion, Legacies), David Ellison (Flyboys, Heart of Stone), Matt Thunell (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, 13 Reasons Why: Beyond the Reasons), and Dana Goldberg (I Am Legend, Star Trek Beyond).
