A new docuseries comes to Prime Video this month. After the fall from grace captured in Cocaine Quarterback, the narrative shifts to Hollywood, chronicling one of the most expensive scams to date. Prime Video has released the trailer and premiere date for Hollywood Hustler: Glitz, Glam, Scam. The three-part series tells the story of aspiring actor Zach Horwitz, whose obsessive ambitions drove him to operate an elaborate and wildly successful financial fraud. View the trailer below.
From the outside, it appeared Horwitz was living the idyllic American dream. Marrying his high school sweetheart, he swept her and their family from the Midwest to the luxury streets of Tinseltown with dreams of becoming an actor. Soon, he established a prosperous production business, promising friends and family he could change their lives, taking them for a ride of delectable luxury. Soon, he collected private jets, luxury homes, and weekend excursions like many collect bills. But Horwitz was harboring a secret. None of it was real. The Indiana native was funneling these caviar dreams through a convoluted Ponzi scheme. While his picturesque wealth attracted multiple investors, he hid the utter truth from everyone, even his wife.
Now, those closest to him — including his mistress — chronicle how Horwitz deceived them all before facing justice. However, many questions remain, including what motivated his deceit and how over $200 million in stolen funds remain unaccounted for.
According to the press release, Hollywood Hustler: Glitz, Glam, Scam is directed by executive producer Rebecca Chaiklin (Tiger King, Another World). Additional EPs include Chris Smith (Fyre, 100 Foot Wave), Danny Gabai (Jimmy & Andy, The Great Beyond, The Report), and Alice Bristow (The Final Year, Sid & Judy). Production is handled by Amazon AMG Studios along with Library Films, VICE Studios, and Article 19 Films.
