Prime Video Releases Trailer For Ballet Comedy ‘Étoile’ From ‘Maisel’ Creators

In an official press release, Prime Video has revealed the premiere date and trailer for the new comedy series from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel creators Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls) and Daniel Palladino (Bunheads). The anticipated series Étoile is set to arrive on April 24. View the trailer below.

Set in the dramatically competitive world of ballet, the series follows two dance companies – one in New York, the other in Paris – facing the closure of their esteemed institutions. In a last-ditch effort, they swap dance troupes to spark fresh ideas across the pond. The series stars previously announced Luke Kirby (Gossip Girl, Panhandle), Gideon Glick (American Horror Story, The Pale Blue Eye), Lou de Laâge (Where Life Begins, Black Box), David Alvarez (West Side Story, American Rust), and Simon Callow (Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Phantom of the Opera). The cast is rounded out by Charlotte Gainsbourg (Belle, Meet the Leroys), Ivan du Pantavice (Damned, Bet on Dwight!), Taïs Vinolo (The Show Must Go On), David Haig (My Boy Jack, Two Weeks Notice), and LaMay Zhang. Yanic Truesdale of Gilmore Girls fame will recur as a guest star.

The series was first announced in 2023, scoring straight-to-series, two-season order. As production began in Paris that summer, the series was temporarily halted due to the writer’s strike.

Under their overall deal with Prime Video, the Palladinos will write, direct, and executive produce. They are joined by EP Dhana Rivera Gilbert (Alex Borstein: Corsets & Clown Suits, Vinyl) and co-executive producer Scott Ellis (Weeds, Undateable).

Étoile, which translates to “star” in English, is the Palladinos’ follow-up series to the Emmy-winning comedy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Starring Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards, Superman), the five-season series followed a 1950s housewife who broke societal standards to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. Premiering in 2017, it garnered several Primetime Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Writing and Directing for a Comedy Series, and acting awards for Brosnahan, Alex Bornstien (Mad TV, Family Guy), and Tony Shaloub (Monk, Men In Black).

All eight episodes of Étoile arrive on Prime Video on Thursday, April 24. View the key artwork below.
