According to a Prime Video press release, the action-packed The Wheel of Time has released a trailer for its third season. The show is based on the book series The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan (Fallon series, Barbarian).
While this season is mainly referencing Jordan’s fourth book The Shadow Rising, the Prime Video press release states that the show will explore different settings of the Westlands. Fans will recognize the Aiel Waste deserts, the city of Tanchico, and the cloud-hidden Rhuidean.
Per Prime Video’s release, the show is about Rand al’thor and his journey to finding out that he is the Dragon Reborn. The show is executive produced by many including Rafe Judkins (Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D, Uncharted), Larry Mondragon (Winter Dragon), Rick Selvage (Once Were Warriors: Generations, Arrivederci), Ted Field (Cocktail, Three Men and A Little Lady), Mike Weber (Jumanji, 500 Days of Summer), Darren Lemke (Kung Fu Panda, Gemini Man), Marigo Kehoe (The Crown, The Damned United), Justine Juel Gillmer (The 100, Halo), Sanaa Hamri (Lovestruck: The Musial, Just Wright), and Amanda Kate Shuman (Berlin Station, Blackslist).
According to Prime Video, the official synopsis is as follows: “After defeating Ishamael at the end of Season Two, Rand reunites with his friends at Falme and is declared the Dragon Reborn. But in Season Three, the threats against the Light are multiplying: the White Tower stands divided, the Black Ajah run free, old enemies return to the Two Rivers, and the remaining Forsaken are in hot pursuit of the Dragon… including Lanfear, whose relationship with Rand will mark a crucial choice between Light and Dark for them both. As the ties to his past begin to unravel, and his corrupted power grows stronger, Rand becomes increasingly unrecognizable to his closest allies, Moiraine and Egwene. These powerful women, who started the series as teacher and student, must now work together to prevent the Dragon from turning to the Dark…no matter the cost.”
The cast includes Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, I Care a Lot) as Moiraine Damodred, Daniel Henney (Criminal Minds) as al’Lan Mandragoran, Joshua Stradowski (Gran Turismo) as Rand al’Thor, Zoë Robins (Power Rangers Ninja Steel) as Nynaeve al’Meara, Madeleine Madden (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) as Egwene al’Vere, Marcus Rutherford (Obey) as Perrin Aybara, Dónal Finn (Rogue Heroes) as Mat Cauthon, Ceara Coveney (Young Wallander) as Elayne Trakand, Kate Fleetwood (Harlots) as Leandrin Guirale, Natasha O’Keefe (Peaky Blinders) as Lanfear, Ayoola Smart (Killing Eve) as Aviendha, and Kae Alexander (Game of Thrones) as Min Farshaw.
