Prime Video deployed a sneak peek of the previously announced action-drama series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf Tuesday morning, preparing audiences for a return to one of the streamer’s grittiest and most-watched original universes. The prequel series sees leading man Taylor Kitsch (John Carter, Friday Night Lights) once again wearing the boots of Ben Edwards, a CIA operative and former Navy Seal who helped Lieutenant Commander James Reece hunt down those responsible for the murder of his family in 2022’s The Terminal List.
According to an accompanying press release, the first three episodes of the series will premiere on August 27th, with subsequent episodes being released every Wednesday afterwards until the season finale on September 24th. The teaser trailer can be found below.
Adapted from a 2018 novel of the same name from author Jack Karr, the original Terminal List series launched in 2022, and followed Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation, Guardians of the Galaxy) as Lieutenant Commander James Reece, who slowly unearths a governmental conspiracy in his crusade to avenge his slain wife and daughter. Although just 40 percent of reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes gave the series favorable reviews, audiences responded much more positively, netting season one a 94 percent score on the website’s “Popcornometer.” A second season of the main series, entitled True Believer, has been greenlit alongside Dark Wolf, indicating Prime Video was satisfied with its performance.
In addition to starring, Kitsch will also serve as an executive producer for Dark Wolf. Other returning members of production include showrunner David DiGiglio (Traveler, Eight Below) and Chris Pratt, who will reprise the character of Reece, this time in a supporting role.
“Digging into Ben’s origin with Dark Wolf was a blast,” Kitsch raved in a Prime Video press release. “This season goes even deeper—there’s more grit, more heart, and a lot more on the line. It’s raw, it’s honest, and it really lets you see the heart of who he is.”
Prime Video also reaffirmed their commitment to authenticity in the series’ portrayal of the military, with veterans contributing to the series as writers, actors, and other administrative roles. “I have so much respect for the military and SEAL community and loved showing their brotherhood, the things you fight to hold onto, and just letting it all play out. I think fans are going to have a great time with it,” Kitsch added.
The first three episodes of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf will release on August 27th. Season one of The Terminal List is now streaming on Prime Video.
