Prime Video Orders Animated Series Of Webtoon Comic ‘Lore Olympus’

Prime Video acquires yet another animated series into there arsenal. The Webtoon comic Lore Olympus has been ordered by Prime and will become an animated series.

For those who have not heard of Lore Olympus the comic was created by Rachel Smythe (Lore Olympus Volume 1, Lore Olympus Volume 2) which told a reimagined story of the Greek myth involving Hades and Persephone. According to Deadline, the series synopsis reads, “In Lore Olympus, witness what the gods do…after dark. The friendships and the lies, the gossip and the wild parties, and of course, forbidden love. Because it turns out, the gods aren’t so different from us after all, especially when it comes to their problems. Stylish and immersive, this is one of mythology’s greatest stories – The Taking of Persephone – as it has never been told before.”

The cast for this series consist of Tom Schalk (Paw Patrol: To the Rescue, Wild Card), Erin Nicole Lundquist (Resistor, Knights of Guinevere), Ronald Szymanski (Heading Out, The Son of Satan), and Autumn Ivy (Full Moon Mischief, Post Trauma). The show runner for the series is Julia Cooperman (The Winchesters, Willow) and accompanying her are executive producers David Madden (Sidlined 2: Intercepted, Follow My Voice), Sydney Bright (Bob’s Burgers, The Awesomes), Lisa Henson (The First Snow of Fraggle Rock, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip), and Halle Stanford (Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, Harriet the Spy).

According to Deadline, Cooperman issued this statement when it came to her being selected to show run the series, “‘I am beyond thrilled to partner with Prime Video, The Jim Henson Company, and Webtoon on the series adaptation of Rachel Smythe’s wildly popular webcomic, Lore Olympus,’ said Cooperman. ‘My fascination with Greek mythology has spanned grade-school libraries and college seminars. Reading Lore Olympus, I was reminded of the enduring power of these tales, which echo through so much of our modern-day storytelling. We can’t wait to share this frisky, soulful, and timely reimagining of Persephone and Hades’ story with new audiences and longtime readers alike.’” Once this series is completed it will join the ranks of other adult animated shows such as Invincible, Hazbin Hotel, and The Mighty Nein.

We will have to stay tuned to Prime Video for any future updates regarding the series.
