Prime Video Has Given The Greenlight For A ‘Off-Campus’ TV Series Based On The Books Written By Elle Kennedy

Prime Video has decided to bring another book series to life based on the ones written by Elle Kennedy (The Chase, The Play), named Off-Campus, Deadline exclusively reports. The series will be romantic YA drama set in college, and Louisa Devy (Death and Other Details, The Flight Attendant) is confirmed as the showrunner. It’s not a surprise the streamer has made this move after viewers saw the huge success that followed the TV adaptation of the famous book series The Summer I Turned Prettywritten by Jenny Han (All The Boys I Loved Before, XO Kitty).

According to Deadline, the series’ first season will begin in the same order as the book series, which starts with The Deal, released in 2015. The adaptation will focus on an opposite-attract romance between a playboy hockey player and a music major who heavily dislikes hockey, both of whom are studying at Briar University.

The books that the Off-Campus series is based on are five in total, and each tells the different journeys of the men from the university’s elite hockey team, whose lives intertwine with different women, creating love stories that make the reader want to know what happens till the last page. According to Deadline, these characters will be going through the friendships, love and heartbreak that come while transitioning into adulthood.

According to Deadline, the series will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Executive producers will be Levy, Marty Bowen (The Maze Runner, Revenge), Wyck Godfrey (Safe Haven, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) from Temple Hill, Leanna Billings (Misfits, F. Godfather) with her banner Billings Productions and Neal Flaherty (Monster-In-Law, Just Friends). Instead, Kennedy will be only a producer for the series. Head of television and Amazon MGM Studios, Vernon Sanders (The Enemy Within, Harry’s Law), has shared his thoughts on the series being greenlit.

“Kennedy’s beloved Off-Campus series has resonated with a massive audience by tackling relatable topics from self-discovery to the power of connection,” Sanders explained via Deadline. “With Levy guiding our series alongside Hill, Leanna, and Neal, our global Prime Video customers will fall in love with this story all over again.”

Prime Video has not yet confirmed the official release or production dates for the Off-Campus series.
