According to Deadline, Prime Video has decided to not move forward with three shows: Harlan Coben’s Shelter, With Love, and The Horror of Dolores Roach. Both Harlan Coben’s Shelter and The Horror of Dolores Roach were canceled after one season. With Love was canceled after two seasons.
As Deadline notes, cancellations have been occurring at a frequent rate due to the strikes coming to an end and the goal of streamers and broadcasters to reduce costs.
Harlan Coben’s Shelter debuted in August, and the series is based on the novel Shelter by Harlan Coben (Stay Close, Gone for Good).
The series focuses on Mickey Bolitar, played by Jaden Michael (Colin in Black & White, Wonderstruck), who must move to New Jersey and live with his aunt Shira, played by Constance Zimmer (Run the Tide, Boston Legal).
After a girl goes missing and a mysterious woman tells Mickey some news about his father, he and his friends Spoon Spindell, played by Adrian Greensmith (Metal Lords, Whitney Woerz: Little Bit More), Ema Winslow, played by Abby Corrigan (Chasing Grace, Castle Rock), and Rachel Caldwell, played by Sage Linder (Nancy Drew, The Next Step) work together to uncover the town’s secrets.
Created by Aaron Mark (Empanada Loca, Squeamish), The Horror of Dolores Roach premiered in July. The series focuses on Dolores Roach, played by Justina Machado (One Day at a Time, Queen of the South), who is released from a 16-year prison sentence. Upon her release, she ends up living with her friend Luis, played by Alejandro Hernandez (Instinct, American Dreamer).
The first season of With Love debuted in December 2021, and the second season premiered in June of this year. The series was created by Gloria Calderón Kellett (Trophy Wife, Your Place or Mine).
The romantic comedy series With Love focuses on two siblings Lily Diaz, played by Emeraude Toubia (Shadowhunters, Love In The Sun), and Jorge Diaz Jr., played by Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty, White Bird in a Blizzard), on their quest to find love in their lives.
Other series that have been canceled recently, as Deadline notes, include Shadow and Bone on Netflix, The Muppets Mayhem on Disney+, Praise Petey on Freeform, and many more.
