According to a press release from Prime Video, the new animated series Kevin will premiere on the streaming service on Monday, April 20. The series will be streamed in over 240 countries around the globe. It also released the title sequence featuring the original song “I’m Coming Home” performed by Jason Schwartzman (Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, Talamasca: The Secret Order), who also voices the character Kevin.
Kevin is a house that decides to embark on life without humans after his owners break up unexpectedly. He moves into a local pet rescue in Astoria, Queens, where he bands together with other misfit animals. The other animals inadvertently assist Kevin in finding what he really wants out of life. The series will also star Aubrey Plaza (Honey Don’t!, Agatha All Along) as Dana, one-half of the human couple that Kevin leaves behind. Other regulars include Whoopi Goldberg as Cupcake (Sister Act, Meet Me on the Steps), John Waters as Armando (Monster High, Orville Peck’s 6th Annual Rodeo), and Aparna Nancherla as Judy (The Great North, Kiff) — the fellow residents of Kevin’s new home at the rescue. Gil Ozeri (Comedy Bang Bang: The Podcast, Jews on Film) plays the human rescue owner, Seth, and Amy Sedaris (The Pout-Pout Fish, Is This Think On?) will voice his dog, Brandi.
Kevin is executive produced and created by Plaza and Joe Wengert (The Neighborhood Listen, Human Resources). Wengert will also serve as the showrunner. Additional executive producers are Dan Murphy (Law & Order, The Cold Open), Chris Prynoski (Motorcity, Her), Ben Kalina (Big Mouth, The Midnight Gospel), Shannon Prynoske (Her, Among Us) and Antonio Canobbio (Mating Season, Dang!). Kevin will be produced by Titmouse and Evil Hag Productions in association with Amazon MGM Studios.
mxdwn previosuly reported on the series’ initial announcement in October of last year.
