Stephen King’s (The Shining, It) iconic horror story Carrie will reportedly be receiving yet another on-screen adaptation, this time for the small screen. Prime Video has just announced the main cast for the television adaptation of the horror story, according to Deadline.
MXDWN previously reported that Summer H. Howell (Curse of Chucky, Spirit in the Blood) will be taking on the role of the titular telekinetic teen, Carrie White, while Matthew Lillard (Scooby-Do, The Descendants) will play Principal Grayle. New additions to the cast include Samantha Sloyan (The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass) as Carrie’s mother, Margaret White, Alison Thornton (Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce, Dare Me) as Chris Hargensen, and Thalia Dudek (Better Man, Doctor Who) as Emaline.
According to Deadline, Siena Agudong (Sidelined: The QB and Me, Resident Evil) will play Sue Snell, Amber Midthunder (Prey, Legion) will take on the role of Miss Desjardin, Josie Totah (The Buccaneers, Saved by the Bell) will play Tina, Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, House of the Dragon) as Billy, and Joel Oulette (Sullivan’s Crossing, Avatar: The Last Airbender) as Tommy.
This new adaptation is reportedly a reimagining of the original tale, which focuses on outcast high schooler Carrie, who lives in isolation under the thumb of her controlling mother. Following the sudden death of her father, Carrie is hurled into the trials and tribulations of high school, bullying, and newfound telekinetic abilities, according to Deadline.
Deadline reports the famous King novel was originally adapted into the cult classic Brian De Palma (Mission: Impossible, Dressed to Kill) directed film in 1976, starring Sissy Spacek (In the Bedroom, Coal Miner’s Daughter) as Carrie. The book was later adapted again into a remake starring Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass, Let Me In) in 2013.
Mike Flanagan (The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass) will serve as writer, executive producer, showrunner, and director for select episodes. Trevor Macy (Oculus, The Haunting of Hill House) is on board as executive producer, according to Deadline.
The Prime Video series will reportedly be released sometime in 2026.
