Prime Video Announces Documentary Series Uncovering Lisa Frank, Inc.

In an event sure to recapture and uncover the secrets behind an iconic, brightly-colored brand, Prime Video announced a new documentary series featuring the history behind the Lisa Frank company. The four-part series is titled Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story.

Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story will be produced by Sony Pictures Televisions’ Maxine Productions. The same studio debuted the hit documentary Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV via the official press release. Arianna LaPenne (Pandemic: How to Prevent an Outbreak, Lost Woman of Highway 20) will direct and co-executive produce the series. 

Head of Brand and Content Innovation at Amazon MGM Studios, Laura Anderson, commented on the new series, saying, “Lisa Frank’s signature rainbow-hued brand evokes core memories and nostalgia for generations of students – and yet there was so much more happening behind the scenes” via the official press release. She also gave a special shout out, saying, “thanks to Maxine Productions, Sony Pictures Television, and Alysia Russo – the earliest champion of this series – audiences will discover the reality nestled behind the neon.”

Founder and President of Maxine Productions, Mary Robertson (Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, The New York Times Presents) joined in as well, commenting, “Like so many of us, I grew up with a deep attachment to Lisa Frank products, relishing the sense of whimsy, magic, and creativity they brought to daily life. I am honored by the opportunity to work with our incredible director Arianna LaPenne, showrunner Lisa Kalikow, Amazon Prime Video, Sony Pictures Television – Nonfiction, and my colleagues at Maxine Productions to share this astonishing true story that may forever change the way you think about rainbows and unicorns,” per the official press release.

Additionally, Lisa Kalikow (Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, Murder in Big Horn) and Robertson will executive produce on behalf of Maxine Productions. Aaron Saidman (Secrets of Playboy, Undercover Boss) and Eli Holzman (We’re Here, Undercover Boss) will executive produce for Sony Pictures Television – Nonfiction (SPTNF) via the official press release.

While still in its early phases of production, Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story will feature interviews from journalists, fans and insiders of Lisa Frank Inc., along with never-before-seen inside footage from the brand, per the official press release.
