According to Prime Video, a new dark comedy series is coming to the streaming service. The new series will be a fast-paced show based on true events, titled The Sticky.
According to the official press release, The Sticky is “inspired by a real-life heist that made international headlines in 2012, which saw more than $18 million worth of maple syrup stolen from Quebec’s national reserves.” The witty series is set to combine “moments of culture-clash hilarity, edge-of-the-seat excitement and heartbreaking drama.”
Following protagonist Ruth Landry as she finds herself entangled with events known as the “Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist,” viewers are sure to be swept up by its antics. Per the official logline, Ruth is “a tough, middle-aged maple syrup farmer who turns to crime when the bureaucratic authorities threaten to take away everything she loves. She teams up with the hot-tempered Bostonian mobster, and a mild-mannered French-Canadian security guard to carry out a multi-million dollar heist on Quebec’s maple syrup surplus.”
In the role of Ruth Landry is Margo Martindale (Your Honor, The Americans), a three-time Emmy-winning actress, per the press release. Chris Diamantopoulos (The Boys in the Boat, Mrs. Davis) is set to play the Bostonian mobster, while Guillaume Cyr (Family Game, Underground) will star as the French-Canadian security guard.
The official press release additionally reveals that Oscar and Emmy winner Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween, Knives Out) will guest star and executive produce the series. Brian Donovan (Kelly’s Hollywood, Somebody’s Mother) and Ed Herro (American Housewife, The Neighbors) also lead the project as creators, showrunners and executive producers of The Sticky.
Joining as executive producers are Gillian Bohrer (Tell Me Lies, Warm Bodies), Jason Blum (Get Out, The Invisible Man), Chris McCumber (Totally Killer, The Visitor), Jonathan Levine (50/50, Warm Bodies), Chris Dickie (Totally Killer, Black Box), Jeremy Gold (Sharp Objects, Black Box) and Michael Dowse (Stuber, What If…) via the press release.
