Prime Video Announces Additional Casting Details For Drama Series ‘The Girlfriend,’ Starring Robin Wright

According to Prime Video’s official press release, the drama series The Girlfriend has updated cast information, announcing six new series regulars to the show. The Girlfriend is adapted from Michelle Frances’ (The Temp, The Boyfriend) novel of the same name.

The series follows Robin Wright (Forrest Gump, The Princess Bride) as Laura, a woman who seemingly has it all. According to the official press release, “Laura wants for nothing. She has a glittering career, a loving husband, and, above all, she has Daniel, her precious only son. But Laura’s seemingly perfect life is blown apart when Daniel brings home Cherry (Olivia Cooke), the girlfriend who changes everything. After an uncomfortable first meeting, Laura grows convinced that Cherry isn’t who she says she is. Whilst no-one else can see what she sees, Laura refuses to stand by and watch Daniel be deceived. She’ll do anything to protect him. As things go from bad to deadly, the question is, Is Cherry a manipulative social climber? Or is Laura paranoid and possessive? The truth is a matter of perspective.”

Joining as new series regulars are Tanya Moodie (A Discovery of Witches, Motherland), Shalom Brune-Franklin (Love Me, The Tourist), Karen Henthorn (Coronation Street, The Rising), Leo Suter (Vikings: Valhalla, Clique), Anna Chancellor (Jupiter Moon, What a Girl Wants) and Francesca Corney (The Buccaneers, Fistful of Vengeance) via the press release.

Prime Video revealed Moodie will star as Isabella, Laura’s best friend and mother to Brigitte. Brune-Franklin will play Isabella’s daughter, Brigitte. Henthorn will star as Tracey, mother to Cherry (girlfriend to Laura’s son). Suter will play Cherry’s ex-boyfriend, Nicholas. Chancellor will play Lilith, an artist who rejects conformity and is forging her own path. Corney will star as Millie, Nicholas’s fiance.

Prime Video previously announced Wright, Laurie Davidson (Cats, The Good Liar), Olivia Cooke (House of the Dragon, Ready Player One) and Waleed Zuaiter (London Has Fallen, Oslo) to the cast. Davidson will play Daniel, the adrenaline junkie son of Laurie and Cherry’s boyfriend. Cooke will play Cherry, Daniel’s new girlfriend who fights for opportunities in her life. Zuaiter will play Howard, Laura’s super rich and out-of-touch business-focused husband.

The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Imaginarium Productions, per the official press release.
