Deadline has reported in an exclusive that Robin Givens (Tyson, Ambitions) will be joining the recurring cast of Prime Video’s Cross in its upcoming third season. She is said to be playing the role of Senator Mulrooney, an intellectual conservative government representative.
The character, via Deadline, is the wife of a doctor and mother to a deeply troubled son, whose issues are closely guarded and kept secret by herself.
Per Deadline, based on characters created by author James Patterson (Kiss the Girls, Alex Cross), Cross follows D.C.- born homicide detective and forensic psychologist Alex Cross (Aldis Hodge; Underground, Black Adam), who uses his mental powers to dive into the minds of vicious serial killers. Audiences last saw the series characters pursuing a malicious billionaire-hunting spree, but the third season is set to continue exploring an all-new set of storylines in the world of Cross.
Givens is widely recognized for his role as lead Darlene in 1980s sitcom and 2021 revival of Head of the Class, alongside roles in The CW’s Riverdale and Katy Keene, reports Deadline. She has also been a series regular in prior shows such as ABC’s The Fix and OWN’s Ambitions, along with guest appearances in Netflix’s Lucifer, the CW’s Everybody Hates Chris, NBC’s Chuck and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and USA Network’s Burn Notice. Most recently, she can be seen as a series regular on the CW’s Batwoman and in Prime Video’s Harlem as a recurring character. She is repped by the Kaplan Stahler Agency and LINK Entertainment.
Deadline noted that Cross was developed by executive producer and showrunner Ben Watkins (Burn Notice, Quest to Ref), with additional production from MGM Studios, Amazon, and Paramount Television Studios. Season two’s executive producers consist of author Patterson, series star Hodge, Jim Dunn (Daredevil, Haven), Craig Siebels (Burn Notice, The Gifted), Sam Ernst (Carnival Row, Hand of God), J. David Shanks (Seven Seconds, 51st Street), Aiyana White (Lucifer, Tiny Pretty Things), Patrick Santa (Cross, Help Me Rhonda), Bill Robinson (Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, Zoo), and Owen Shiflett (Exeter, Cursed Films).
