According to the press release, Prime Video and MGM Studios, in association with Blumhouse Television, Comet Pictures and P&S Projects, released the official trailer and key art for their new crime thriller series, Scarpetta. The series is written by Liz Sarnoff (Marco Polo, Happy!) and stars Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies, The Perfect Couple) and Jamie Lee Curtis (The Lost Bus, Freakier Friday). The series cast boasts an all-star cast ensemble, including Bobby Cannavale (The Watcher, Blue Moon), Simon Baker (The Devil Wears Prada, Land of The Dead), Ariana DeBose (West Side Story, Wish), Rosy McEwen (Rabbit Trap, the Letter Writer), Jake Cannavale (Experts in a Dying Field, American Sports Story), Hunter Parrish (The Other Black Girl, Relations) and Amanda Righett (Showdown at the Grand, Far Haven).
Scarpetta is based on the best-selling novel, Scarpetta, written by Patricia Cornwell (Hornet’s Nest, Criminal Minds). Over 120 million copies of the novel have sold worldwide since 1990. The press release states the series centers around Kidman’s Scarpetta, a medical examiner who aims to give a voice to victims and unmask a horrific serial killer, all while ensuring a 28-year-old case doesn’t undo her professional and personal lives. The show will premiere exclusively on Prime on March 11, 2026. It will also be shown in more than 240 countries around the world.
The press release mentions that Academy Award winner Kidman not only portrays the character Kay Scarpetta, but also serves as the executive producer along with Per Saari (A Good Marriage, The Perfect Couple) as well as Curtis, who portrays Scarpetta’s sister, Dorothy Farinelli. The showrunners will be Sarnoff, Cornwell, Jason Blum (Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, Thread: An Insidious Tale), Jeremy Gold (The Bondsman, The Sticky), Chris Dickie (The Bondsman, The Hookup) and Chris McCumber (The Sticky, House of Spoils). David Gordon Green (The Voyage Out, The Righteous Gemstones) will direct five episodes.
