Season two of Loki is set to premiere on October 5th at 6:00 p.m. PT on Disney+. According to Deadline, in anticipation of this release date, there was a launch event in Hollywood where an audience had the opportunity to see the first two episodes. During this event, the President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige (The Marvels, Avengers: Endgame) made a surprise appearance.
As Deadline notes, in a speech right before the episodes were shown, Feige first spoke about the cast of Loki. He referenced the SAG-AFTRA strike, stating, “Obviously our cast is not here tonight.”
He continued, “But let me tell you something, they all worked so hard, they loved it so much. Our star Tom Hiddleston is not just our star and our Loki for the past 12 years, he’s one of our executive producers and he’s incredible and this show wouldn’t happen without him.”
Feige also praised others who made the show and asked them to stand up, including directors Justin Benson (The Endless, Resolution) and Aaron Moorhead (Spring, Synchronic). He declared, “They are incredible and did a number of episodes which are awesome.”
He also gave a shoutout to visual effects supervisor Dan DeLeeuw (Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: The Winter Soldier) who directed an episode as well as production designer Kasra Farahani (Captain Marvel, Earth to Echo) who also directed a few episodes of season two.
Feige continued to praise head writer Eric Martin (Heels, Rick and Morty), costume designer Christine Wada (Bridesmaids, The Terminal), and the Head of Streaming and Television at Marvel Brad Winderbaum (Marvel Studios: Assembled, The Making of Thor: Love and Thunder).
As his last shoutout, Feige spoke about Kevin Wright (Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and the Wasp), stating, “And I want to point out the executive producer without whom this show would not have happened. He and Tom Hiddleston are connected at the hip. He’s been with Marvel for a while, but this is really his baby and he’s responsible for this whole thing: Kevin Wright. Stand up, Kevin!”
The premise of season two revolves around Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston (Crimson Peak, The Night Manager), working with members of the Time Variance Authority to better understand the multiverse.
Fans of Loki can stream season two on Disney+ this Thursday.
