Netflix has unveiled the highly-anticipated trailer for Squid Game season two, sending shivers down the spines of fans worldwide. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer opens up with new challengers being invited to participate in the series, as well as the return of Player 456, aka Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae (The Thieves), who declares to put an end to the games against the Frontman, played by Lee Byung-hun (Mr.Devil).
In the trailer, fans will see that the first challenge will be Red Light, Green Light, as was the case in the first season. Seong tries to help the players by telling them the strategy of how to beat the game and make it across. Audiences are also introduced to new challenges, such as the players standing on a spinning carousel. While this is happening, there is also action outside of the arena
According to Netflix via The Hollywood Reporter, the official synopsis states, “Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the States and comes back with a new resolution in his mind. Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won.” Along with Lee Jung-jae, others returning for season two will be Wi Ha-joon (Midnight) as Officer Hwang Jun-ho and Gong Yoo (Train to Busan) as The Salesman.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, with the appearance of returning characters, the second season will include new members such as Yim Si-wan (Unlocked), Kang Ha-neul (Midnight Runners), Park Gyu-young (Sweet Home) and Lee Jin-uk (Nine). Season two is poised to delve deeper into the psychological and societal themes that made the original series a global phenomenon.
While fans of the hit Korean drama series, await on the release of the second season, which is scheduled for December 29th, the entire first of Squid Game is available to stream on Netflix.
