Pivot, a new cable network from Participant Media, has ordered a second season of the Australian comedy series Please Like Me prior to its US premiere date. The first season will air in its entirety on the network on August 1, with all six episodes being shown back-to-back.
The ten-episode second season will be co-produced by Pivot and Australia’s ABC2. Via Indiewire, series creator and star Josh Thomas has stated that he is “so happy” about the renewal news. “I have loads of ideas for season two and I think it’ll be super fun. The whole Pivot line-up is great and I’m excited that they’ve trusted me with their money. I hope I don’t spoil everything with my ideas and my mediocre face, which is currently ruining the days of thousands of bus commuters all over America.”
Thomas’ self-deprecating humor shines through in Please Like Me’s first season, in which Thomas’ character (also named Josh) struggles to understand both himself and the family and friends that surround him.
Please Like Me will air on Pivot beginning at 8 PM on August 1. The episodes will also be available on the network’s website, www.pivot.tv.
