Todd Stashwick (12 Monkeys, Mockingbird) is adding another cinematic universe to his resume. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Star Trek: Picard actor has joined Marvel Studios’ untitled Vision series for Disney+.
The new WandaVision spinoff, commonly referred to by fans as Vision Quest, will follow the Scarlet Witch’s android lover Vision, played by Paul Bettany (Legion, The Da Vinci Code), after the events of Marvel Studio’s first television series. After being destroyed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, rebuilt by the government agency known as S.W.O.R.D. and getting his memories restored inside Wanda Maximoff’s magic hex, Vision is now left wandering the MCU and searching for a new purpose in life.
Sources at The Hollywood Reporter say Stashwick has been cast as an assassin who is on the hunt for Vision and the technology he possesses. The actor will be reuniting with Terry Matalas (12 Monkeys, MacGyver), the showrunner of Star Trek: Picard and now the Vision series.
Besides Stashwick and Bettany, the only other actor announced for the series is James Spader (The Blacklist, Boston Legal), who will be reprising his role as Ultron, the big bad of 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Ultron was originally created by Tony Stark to act as a defense program for the Avengers, but like the many fictional artificial intelligences before him, he turned evil and plotted to destroy the human race. Vision seemingly destroyed him at the end of the movie, so for now, it is unclear how he will return and if his motivations stay the same.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will serve as the third part of trilogy starting with WandaVision and continuing with Agatha All Along, the spinoff series starring Kathryn Hahn (Tiny Beautiful Things, Mrs. Fletcher), which debuts on Disney+ on September 18.
No release date has been announced, but filming is expected to begin in England in early 2025.
