Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton) will star in and executive produce Amazon’s adaptation of Naoise Dolan’s debut novel entitled Exciting Times, according to Variety. The book follows Ava, who begins teaching English grammar abroad to wealthy children when she becomes involved in a love triangle with banker Julian and lawyer Edith.
Dynevor is most well-known for her role as Daphne Bridgerton in the 2020 Netflix breakout series, Bridgerton, which became the platform’s most-watched series at 82 million households. The series’ debut season followed one of eight of the Bridgerton siblings navigating the Marriage Mart in Regency-era England. Unsurprisingly, given its record-breaking success, Bridgerton was renewed up to a fourth season in April. The show’s upcoming second season will focus on the Bridgerton’s eldest sibling, Anthony, and his quest to find love.
As well as filming Bridgerton’s second season and working on Amazon’s Exciting Times, Dynevor is expected to star in the Sky original film entitled The Colour Room. The flick follows 1920s ceramic artist Clarice Cliff, played by Dynevor, who broke the glass ceiling and dramatically transformed the workplace throughout the 20th century.
Exciting Times will be written and executive produced by Dolan and Dynevor, alongside Cooper Raiff (Shithouse), Teddy Schwarzman (The Imitation Game), Ben Stillman (I Care a Lot), and Michael Heimler (Little Fish).
