Peter Serafinowicz To Star in ‘The Tick’

Peter Serafinowicz, the British actor and comedian, has been cast as the title character in the upcoming Amazon reboot of The Tick, Deadline Reports.

In the reboot, Serafinowicz will play The Tick who is suffering from a memory loss. The Tick will reunite with his sidekick Arthur (Griffin Newman) to fight crime (as superheroes do). The same time Newman was cast in the role of Arthur, Valorie Curry also joined the cast as Dot, Arthur’s sister.

The Tick won’t be Serafinowicz’s first venture into the world of comics. He appeared in the Marvel’s summer blockbuster Guardians of The Galaxy. You might remember him from the first teaser trailer. He’s the Nova Corps officer who is clearly not amused. Serafinowicz’s other notable film credits include Shaun of the DeadSpy, and he was the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

Patrick Warburton originally played The Tick in the 2001 live action series on Fox and is now starring in NBC’s new comedy Crowded. He will not be appearing in The Tick, but he will be an executive producer for the pilot. Warburton has been in the news a lot lately since he was also recently cast as the omniscient voice of Lemony Snicket in Netflix’s upcoming A Series of Unfortunate Events series. The upcoming pilot will be the third television incarnation of The Tick. The original TV series was an animated kids’ show that aired in 1994 and ran for 2 season. Then in 2001, Fox debuted a live action series which lasted a short-lived 9 episodes. Despite The Tick‘s short lifespan on Fox, the series has since become a cult classic.
