According to Deadline, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage (Wicked, Pixels) has officially joined Dexter: Resurrection. The continuation series of Dexter: New Blood began production in New York and will premiere this summer. As of right now, however, there isn’t a synopsis for the series — all audiences know is that it will be set in the present day.”
According to Deadline, Dinklage will portray Leon Prater, a billionaire venture capitalist. Prater is a generous philanthropist, but behind closed doors lies a dark intrigue. Leon works closely alongside Charley, played by Uma Thurman (Batman and Robin, Beautiful Girls), his head of security.
According to ParamoutPlus.com, Dexter: New Blood follows Dexter Morgan — Michael C. Hall — a decade after faking his death in the original series finale. It finds Morgan in the snowy tundra of Upstate New York, hiding in plain sight among strangers. Living in anonymity, Dexter is surprised to meet the son he abandoned years ago.
Dexter: Resurrection is executive produced by Clyde Phillips (Feed The Beast, GetReal), who also serves as showrunner, via Deadline. It’s produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart. The show will also be executive-produced by Hall (Christine, Game Night), Scott Reynolds (The Ugly, Dexter), Tony Hernandez (Wedding, Top Five), and Marcos Siega (Honey Girls, The Substance). Monica Raymund (Bros, The Good Wife) is set to direct four episodes, and Siega will direct six.
A preview of the new series was shown in the premiere episode of Dexter: Original Sin, the prequel series now streaming on Paramount Plus, according to Deadline. The series will conclude its first season on February 14. The original series stars Patrick Gibson (The Darkest Minds, The OA) as the titular serial killer in training. Set in the 1990s, it follows Dexter learning to control his dark urges under the tutelage of his father, Harry. This becomes difficult as he begins a forensics internship with the local Miami police department.
