Pete Davidson (Saturday Night Live) will be starring in a new comedy series that is based on his own life, according to Deadline. The series is tentatively titled Bupkis, Deadline also reports.
Deadline reports that the show will be a raw and fictionalized version of Davidson’s life, similar to the format of Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. The show will reflect Davidson’s real-life personality while telling his story in an unfiltered, R-rated way.
The show currently does not have a streaming home, but is in talks with multiple outlets including Amazon Prime Video and Peacock, per Deadline. It is also currently unclear as to who will take part in the cast, but the series has begun talks with potential options, Deadline also reports.
Davidson will also serve as an executive producer for Bupkis, along with Lorne Michaels (The Kids In The Hall), Dave Sirus (The King Of Staten Island), Judah Miller (King Of The Hill), Andrew Singer (The Other Two), and Erin David (Baby Mama), according to Deadline. Michaels, Singer, and David will all executive produce under their Broadway Video banner.
Davidson and Sirus are long-time collaborators, who are best known for their work together on The King Of Staten Island, a film that was also based on Davidson’s life that was directed by Judd Apatow (Girls).
The upcoming series will extend the list of show Michaels has been or will be executive producing that star Saturday Night Live cast members, including Shrill, starring Aidy Bryant (The Big Sick), Schmigadoon!, starring Cecily Strong (The Boss), Kenan, starring Kenan Thompson (Good Burger) and Chris Redd (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping), Bust Down, which also stars Redd, and That Damn Michael Che, which stars Che (Top Five).
Davidson is currently in his eighth season with Saturday Night Live, but is also currently on leave as he films the upcoming horror film, The Home. It is unclear as to when Bupkis will release or when production will begin.
